What's the chance of coming across someone else owning the same dress as you? If you shop at the big fashion chains there's every possibility, but, if you're talking about a 43 year-old vintage frock, the chances are pretty remote.
Or are they? Here's my lovely friend, Liz rocking the same Dollyrockers maxi on her blog yesterday.
Liz isn't too keen on hers but I'm rather fond of mine. It's made from a thick crimplene fabric, ideal for a bitterly cold day like today and, you'll be pleased to know, it got a resounding thumbs up from the townsfolk. Cobalt, tan, purple, white and silver are clearly easier on the eye of the average grey tracksuit wearer.
So, who were Dollyrockers? Active between 1963 to 1975, it was a mass produced fashion label by British designer Samuel Sherman, using Patti Boyd (at the time George Harrison's girlfriend) as the brand's muse promising rock star cool at affordable prices.
I've owned a fair few in my time, some I've sold and others I've worn for years. Despite it being an "affordable" brand at the time the fact that so many survive proves that the quality is brilliant.
We're taking it easy and staying in tonight as we'll be hard at it tomorrow, selling our vintage wares at prices starting at £1. That's me on the flier, I'm the Black Country's bargain basement vintage queen! Feck knows what I'm going to wear.
